Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS)
CAS is a consortium of 41 professional associations concerned with the development and promulgation of professional standards and guidelines for student learning and personal development support programs and services in institutions of higher learning. AFA demonstrates its commitment to CAS through its appointment of a liaison (Dan Bureau) and an alternate to its board (Doug Lange). AFA has been actively involved in CAS for 29 years and is committed to helping AFA members accomplish their professional goals using the CAS Standards and Guidelines.

CAS Releases Revised Standards

Revised standards to provide direction for advisors of fraternity and sorority programs in higher education have been recently released
by the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS).

CAS continues to create and deliver a dynamic and credible Book of Professional Standards and Guidelines and Self-Assessment Guides that are designed to lead to a host of quality-controlled programs and services. AFA members can purchase the Book of Professional Standards and Guidelines, the CAS Self-Assessment documents, and other CAS resources by visiting the CAS website: www.cas.edu.

Due to AFA’s membership in CAS, we are able to provide you with access to the Fraternity and Sorority Advising Standards and Guidelines. These standards and guidelines can be used in an effort to conduct program self-assessment as emphasized in overall CAS Self-Assessment Guides, which can be purchased at the CAS Website.

If you have questions or need help in enacting CAS programs, please contact Dan Bureau.
