The AFA Board of Directors is embarking on a process that will greatly impact our Association. The search for a new AFA Executive Director will begin shortly and is one we take very seriously. We have identified a search committee to lead this effort and it will be chaired by Justin Kirk. Justin has longevity on the AFA Board of Directors, experience as a fraternity executive, and also membership on the Synergos Association Management Company Board of Directors.
The search committee consists of four additional members. In selecting the committee, we sought a diverse group of members who have had varied professional experiences:
Jason Bergeron - Jason is the Director for the Center of Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of Houston. He has served four years as a member of the AFA Board of Directors, and is a representative to the Center for Fraternity & Sorority Research.
Andy Huston - Andy is currently the Executive Director of Sigma Alpha Mu. He has past experience working on the NIC staff and is a member on the AFA Foundation Board.
Wendi Kinney - Wendi is the Assistant Dean of Students at State University of New York at Geneseo. She previously served as the Northeast Greek Leadership Association Executive Director for several years, and was a staff member for her sorority.
Monica Miranda - Monica is a past AFA president who was involved with the creation of Synergos, AMC. She served as the chair of the board of trustees for her sorority, and currently serves as Director, Center for Student Involvement at the University of South Florida.
Kara Miller - Kara is the AFA President and will serve as an ex-officio member.
We will post the position next week on the AFA job board, AFA website, other non-profit and higher education job boards, and will send notice of the posting to all members. The search committee will create opportunities for both AFA staff and members to provide feedback about the qualities desired in a new Executive Director. We hope to finalize a hire prior to the end of the fiscal year, which is June 30.
Any questions about the search can be directed to Justin Kirk.
