AFA & AFLV Announce the Sale of Synergos Association Management Company
FORT COLLINS, COLO. (July 18, 2017) – The Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values (AFLV) and Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) are making important operational changes including the sale of Synergos, AMC, the introduction of a new co-operative staffing model, and contracting with the Center for Fraternal Excellence (CFE).
The sale of Synergos AMC, the association management company the two organizations formed in 2012, to Lane Velayo, CAE, has been agreed upon by all parties and will be fully executed later this month. AFLV and AFA will remain clients of Synergos AMC through August 31.
Beginning September 1, under the leadership of AFLV Executive Director, Ryan O’Rourke, and AFA Executive Director, Lynda Wiley, both organizations will continue to utilize a shared staffing model. In the new co-op staffing model, AFLV and AFA will share staff in the areas of marketing and communications, membership, and database management. This will enable both associations to build capacity, expand educational offerings, and leverage organizational efficiencies to provide a high level of service for the membership of both associations.
Additionally, AFLV and AFA will both contract with the Center for Fraternal Excellence (CFE), which is an interfraternal cooperative effort led by the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) that provides back-end operations, information technology, accounting, and human resource administration for the industry. Utilizing the operational sophistication in place through the Center for Fraternal Excellence will allow the AFLV and AFA staff to focus on advancing the work of both organizations while reducing administrative expenses.
“We enter into this new model with AFA and CFE with great enthusiasm,” said Ryan O’Rourke, AFLV Executive Director. “The sense of collaboration in the fraternal profession is at an all-time high and by working together in these areas, we know we can accomplish so much more for the fraternity/sorority communities and organization partners that engage in the AFLV experience."
Under this new model, both AFLV and AFA will function independently and no organization involved in the model will realize profits off of one another. AFLV and AFA will also retain dedicated staff members who will work solely on behalf of each individual organization. View the updated organizational charts for AFLV and AFA.
“As the new Executive Director of AFA and the AFA Foundation, I think this model will help us serve our members and donors more efficiently and effectively.” said Lynda Wiley, Executive Director of AFA. “We will continue to maintain our focus of advocating for our profession and providing the highest quality of member services possible.”
