Governance Essentials: Fundamentals of Nonprofit Board Service
On Demand | $25
When stepping into a board member role, you may have many questions regarding the operations and your position. Am I prepared? What is fiduciary responsibility? Will we be a visioning board or a working board?
The presenters of this webinar provide a high-level overview to help you answer these questions and gain an understanding of the operations and functions of volunteer boards. Facilitators will review:
- Fundamentals of board service
- The core legal duties of care, loyalty, and obedience
- Effective relationships between board, staff, and volunteers
- Thinking and acting strategically vs. tactically as a board
We will provide a primer to better understand each of these areas and resources to begin implementing the lessons learned. By attending, participants will be better prepared to step into active board service and identify their role on the team. Following the webinar, AFA board members will host spotlight programs to dive deeper into the topics covered in connection to the AFA board operations and governance.
Program facilitators: Leslie Murphy, FASAE, CAE, president, Raybourn Group International, and Mark McSweeney, CAE, vice president of association strategies, Raybourn Group International.
