DEI Summary & Committee Update

As previously stated, and reconfirmed during the AFA Foundation Day of Giving by earmarking $15,000 for programming and initiatives, AFA is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the association. After conducting a member-wide survey
and intentional focus groups, our DEI consultant, Dr. Jordan S. West, has completed the final report.
In conjunction with the report, Dr. West has provided an executive summary to share with the membership. To access the executive summary, you will need to log in to your AFA membership account, and then navigate to the "Membership Research" tab on
the Reports & Research page.
As AFA is committed to the next steps forward, please join Dr. West and Wendi Kinney for a virtual presentation on Monday, July 27 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. ET to review key findings and answer questions. This presentation will give members an opportunity to have their questions answered regarding the executive summary, and the program will be recorded for individuals who are unable to attend on Monday.
Please note, you must include any questions in the event registration.
Additionally, the board recognizes there is work to be done. We want to integrate DEI into our association operations and ultimately our strategic priorities. To this end, we want to involve the membership in creating a roadmap for the association.
We need strategic thinkers to help develop this roadmap and set priorities for the association moving forward.
The board has newly established the Advisory Committee for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We are seeking to identify a committee that is reflective of a wide range of diversity, including but not limited to race, sexual orientation, religious diversity,
socioeconomic status, and geographical region. In the application, members and non-members can nominate themselves or others for consideration.
